Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2026

1. Introduction

Clarity ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered assistant that helps you manage everyday tasks through natural conversation. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service at clarityagent.co.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, display name, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plaintext.

Conversation Data: Messages you send to Clarity and the responses generated are stored to maintain your chat history and improve your experience. You can delete conversations at any time.

Connected Services (Optional): If you choose to connect third-party services like Gmail or Google Calendar, we store encrypted OAuth tokens to access those services on your behalf. We request only the minimum permissions needed:
  • Gmail: Read-only access (gmail.readonly) — we can read your emails but cannot send, delete, or modify them.
  • Google Calendar: Read-only access — we can view your calendar events but cannot modify them.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the Clarity AI assistant service
  • To maintain your conversation history
  • To access connected services (like Gmail) only when you explicitly ask in a conversation
  • To authenticate your identity and secure your account
We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or train AI models on your personal data.

4. Data Security

  • OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 (Fernet) encryption
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage
  • All communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit
  • JWT tokens are used for session management with automatic expiration

5. Third-Party Services

When you connect a Google service (Gmail, Calendar), your data flows directly between Clarity and Google's APIs. We act as an intermediary — we do not permanently store your email content or calendar events. We only temporarily process data to answer your query, then discard it.

6. Your Rights

  • Disconnect: You can disconnect any connected service at any time from Settings. This immediately deletes the stored tokens.
  • Delete: You can delete individual conversations or your entire account.
  • Revoke: You can revoke Clarity's access via your Google Account permissions at any time.
  • Export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (conversations, connected service tokens, preferences) is permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the Clarity interface.
